135 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, Government Policy and LawIowa’s new system for filing an unemployment insurance claim is now live at iowaworks.gov, Iowa Workforce Development announced. For the first time, Iowans can file a claim, participate in reemployment activities and look for a new job in one centralized location. Previously, searching for a job and filing unemployment claims were located on different websites. The state’s old system for filing unemployment claims was shut down on May 27. The new system was launched on Tuesday. The state agency has experienced a higher-than-normal volume of calls to its helpline, so claimants seeking assistance may experience longer wait times. Agency officials, however, estimate that over 3,500 Iowans had successfully filed a claim in the new system as of noon Tuesday. For more information about the new system, click here.
