The Iowa Music Project’s songwriting showcase will accept submissions through March 14. All musicians with an Iowa connection can submit audio or video recordings of original songs at the project’s website. At the end of the competition, 25 artists or bands, including two picked by online readers of Little Village magazine, will win a half-day recording session at Flat Black studios in Iowa City in April or May. Fifteen tracks will be produced on vinyl and CD through Maximum Ames. A concert on June 2 at the Des Moines Social Club will feature two opening acts selected from the entries, plus The Middle Western, and will be aired on Iowa Public Radio’s “Studio One.”
