Iowa, South Dakota communities awarded more than $93,000 from Wellmark 3-Point Play

115 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, InsuranceSix communities in Iowa and South Dakota received grants between $14,000 and $18,000 from Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield as part of its 3-Point Play Program, Wellmark announced. Throughout the 2018-19 college football and basketball seasons, each time a successful field goal or 3-point basket was made during a game, sports fans nominated their Iowa or South Dakota hometown for a chance to win funding. More than 400 hometowns were nominated between the two states. In Iowa, $63,900 was raised through points by sports teams at Drake University, Iowa State University, the University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa. Norwalk, Lohrville, Carlisle and Hudson received amounts ranging from $14,600 to $17,740.
