The “It Gets Better Tour,” an artistic collaboration with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, is coming to the Des Moines Civic Center in February with plans for weeklong residency activities with local organizations before the performance. The tour uses multimedia and musical theater to showcase real-life stories from gay, lesbian, transgender and straight allies nationwide. Before the performance on Feb. 15, the tour will partner with local groups including One Iowa, Iowa Safe Schools, Drake University LGBTQ+ Alumni Community and Rainbow Union, Capital City Pride, and Des Moines Public Schools. Local singers are also invited to join the final performance through the Community Choir. Tickets to see the It Gets Better public performance go on sale Friday at www.dmpa.org.
