Iowa Workforce Development announced that it will reissue new 1099-G tax forms to all claimants on Monday, Jan. 25, due to possible errors in the forms that were already sent. After recently mailing the 1099-G forms, IWD discovered the forms may not have included all of the benefits received by claimants in 2020, the agency said in a press release. The form is used to report unemployment compensation, and state and federal taxes withheld. The reason for the error has been identified and corrected, IWD officials said. Taxpayers who receive a 1099-G before Jan. 25 are asked to disregard and destroy it. It is unnecessary to contact IWD at this time to notify the agency of an incorrect 1099-G amount. More information can be found on the IWD website.
