July airport traffic up 12.3 percent
A month after setting an all-time record for monthly passenger traffic, Des Moines International Airport reported that July’s count was 12.3 percent above July 2017. That’s double to triple the percentage gain in most recent months, and the biggest percentage gain of the past 12 months. The total count of 249,944 passengers getting on or off a plane in Des Moines was just shy of last month’s record of 251,265. American Airlines accounted for 31 percent of the market to lead all airlines, ahead of Delta Air Lines at 25 percent and United Airlines at 20 percent.
