New position: Poam Logan is in her third week as executive director of Metro Arts Alliance.

Vitals: After obtaining a double degree in French and English from Central College and the University of Paris La Sorbonne, Poam Logan most recently served as a public affairs officer and Iowa community relations state director for Citigroup Inc., where she was responsible for the company’s public affairs and corporate giving program. Prior to that, Poam Logan was the executive director of the Iowa Asian Alliance, building it into the state’s first professional Asian-American nonprofit group, and also worked for the Greater Des Moines Partnership as the director of government and international relations.

Job one: Because the Metro Arts’ board doesn’t formally meet until January, Poam Logan said she is anxiously waiting to formalize the plans for her new role. “I would like to find out what people feel are most important and urgent in terms of our agenda, and that is a decision I would like to make with (the board’s) input,” she said. “I have a lot of ideas; it’s just in terms of prioritizing them and it’s hard for me to prioritize without their input.” She plans to assess where the nonprofit currently stands, and then create dialogue with Metro Arts’ members and other art organizations in Greater Des Moines in hopes of collaborating and addressing common goals.
