Kum & Go announced today that it will begin offering E15 as a fuel option. The first station, located at 7229 University Ave. in Windsor Heights, will open on April 30. Over the next two years, 65 more stores across Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma and South Dakota will begin offering the fuel. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approved E15 for use in vehicles manufactured since 2001, but its availability is limited. E15 is a blend of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent that can reduce pollution. Because it contains less energy, E15 is typically cheaper than E10.
