The Des Moines City Council requested at its meeting Nov. 12, that City Manager Rick Clark continue working with Hansen Commercial Development Inc. on its proposed land swap with the city.

Hansen Commercial Development has proposed to develop land east of City Hall between Robert D. Ray Drive and East Grand Avenue, currently a city parking lot. Hansen wants to construct an office and retail building on the site.

If approved, the city would relocate the parking lot to the former Bud Mulcahy Jeep dealership. Ryan Moffitt, a city planner, said actual construction may be years away.
