LCS, the nation’s third-largest senior living operator, announced that two of its top executives have relocated to Des Moines. Rick Exline, executive vice president and senior managing director of LCS’ life plan communities division, moved from the Indianapolis metropolitan area, and Chris Bird, executive vice president and director of LCS’ rental division, relocated from the Nashville metropolitan area. Joel Nelson, who became LCS’ CEO in January, said the moves were part of a strategy to build a seasoned executive management team in Des Moines. “One of the goals I had was to get more field and operational experience here at our home office, as we serve our seniors through the support centers,” Nelson said. Exline, who also sits on LCS’ board of managers, is a 39-year veteran of the company and a graduate of Simpson College. Bird, who has worked in the senior living industry for 22 years, was most recently division president with Brookdale Senior Living in Nashville. Bird leads operations, development and capital partner relationships for LCS’ rental division.
