Leading indicators show slight gain in March
The Iowa Leading Indicators Index recorded a positive change of 0.2 percent in March, rising to 104.9, the Iowa Department of Revenue said Wednesday. The six-month annualized change in the index was positive (0.9 percent) for the second consecutive month, which suggests that Iowa employment growth will remain positive into the summer. The largest positive contributor was the national yield spread between short-term and long-term interest rates, which was a positive contributor for the first time since October 2011. The new orders index and the agricultural sector were the only negative contributors in March. The full report is available at http://www.iowa.gov/tax/taxlaw/econindicators.html
