Lithia Motors planning new dealership in Urbandale
Another car dealership appears to be heading to Hickman Road in Urbandale.
Medford, Ore.-based Lithia Motors Inc. plans to build a 20,038-square-foot building at the corner of 104th Street and Hickman Road. This will be its seventh dealership in Greater Des Moines.
The site plan for the dealership includes a showroom, offices and service area. The Urbandale Planning and Zoning Commission approved the design at its Monday meeting. The City Council will have its first reading of the project on Nov. 20.
According to the Polk County assessor, the parcel is vacant and is valued at $2.7 million.
Robert Sacks, a spokesman for Lithia Motors, said the company won’t comment on the project until it is approved by the City Council.
This is the third major change in the Central Iowa auto dealership market within the past month. In October, Charles Gabus Ford announced a new $7 million dealership to be built in Grimes, and Dewey Ford was sold to Ken Garff Automotive Group.
