Des Moines Register: The Biden administration will not fight a federal court ruling that prevents U.S. pork processing plants from speeding up their production lines, saying the government failed to properly consider worker safety in the move. The decision was a defeat for pork producers, who aggressively lobbied the U.S. Department of Agriculture to fight the ruling. The National Pork Producers Council said today that it would “pursue all avenues to reverse the court decision” which will cause “irreparable harm” to U.S. pig producers, especially smaller farmers. The United Food and Commercial Workers union hailed the decision, saying it would “strengthen safety protections for America’s meatpacking workers.”
