The Merchants Bonding Co. Foundation announced it has pledged a $100,000 contribution to the Iowa Soccer Development Foundation, which was created to design and build a multiuse professional soccer stadium in Des Moines. Larry Taylor, president of Des Moines-based Merchants Bonding Co., said he believes the project serves the community on multiple levels. “Not only does it provide a healthy outlet for at-risk kids, but it creates a standout amenity here in Central Iowa that we believe will be another great way to help the business community attract and retain our workforce,” he said in a press release. The Merchants Bonding Co. Foundation’s year-to-date giving totals $82,412, with donations to a wide range of organizations, among them Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, Pinky Swear Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Des Moines Performing Arts, the American Heart Association, Special Olympics, and the foundation’s 2022 focus charity, Hawthorn Hill, which has a mission of helping homeless families.
