Meredith Corp. and Hy-Vee will partner in hosting a healthy cooking demonstration and family meal night for some families served by Children and Family Urban Movement on May 22. Meredith will provide a healthy recipe recently featured in Better Homes & Gardens. A Hy-Vee chef will perform the cooking demonstration and the meal will be catered by Hy-Vee for 10 families invited to participate in the class at Trinity Las Americas United Methodist Church in Des Moines. Meredith will give participating families Hy-Vee gift cards to purchase the ingredients used in the demonstration as well as items they can use in their own kitchens to prepare the meal at home. CFUM plans to host a second session later this year. Meredith is using prize money it was awarded from its recent “Healthiest Employer” recognition in the “Large Employer” category from the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative to fund the event as part of its commitment to further health and well-being in the Central Iowa community.
