The bank, which has assets approaching $750 million, will lease approximately 19,000 square feet on the second and third floors of the Liberty Building, 418 Sixth Ave. Its parent company, Meta Financial Group Inc., is based in Storm Lake and will retain that headquarters location, Moore said.

The key reason for the move is to bring together a number of corporate and regional managers, including himself, who are spread out among the bank’s Greater Des Moines branches, Moore said. MetaBank had also considered some locations in the western suburbs, “but I figured we have offices west of town, but none in downtown,” he said.

Approximately 30 people will be located in the office to start, among them human resources, marketing, commercial and mortgage lending managers, with a few other management and corporate positions, including MetaBank’s Central Iowa market president, Gene Richardson.

Moore said the move will take place Nov. 19 and the skywalk office, its sixth Central Iowa branch, should be open by early December.
