Cities across the Des Moines metro area, including Ankeny, Clive, Des Moines, Grimes, Indianola, Norwalk, Urbandale, Waukee and West Des Moines, have launched a coordinated “Ride Safe ’n Smart” campaign to address issues and confusion around e-bikes, e-scooters and similar devices on shared trails. The initiative aims to promote consistent safety guidance, focusing on trail etiquette, speed control and clear rules on where devices can operate. The campaign coincides with updates to local ordinances, including a new law in Ankeny that took effect Friday and a pending ordinance in Waukee.
