Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller was elected president of the National Association of Attorneys General during its three-day Capital Forum that concluded Wednesday. Miller has selected “Consumer Protection 2.0: Tech Threats and Tools” as his presidential initiative. “Thank you to my fellow Attorneys General for electing me as president and giving me this opportunity again,” Miller said in a statement. “In 39 years as attorney general, one of my top priorities has always been protecting consumers. The sophistication and the seriousness of the threats facing consumers today are unprecedented. Rapid changes in digital technology and social media pose both promise and peril for all Americans. In 2022, I want to muster our collective efforts to fight back.” The effort will require a bipartisan approach as well as strong partnerships with federal, state and local officials with consumer groups; and partners in the private sector, he said. Miller will host the NAAG Presidential Summit next year in Des Moines on Aug. 9-10. NAAG, a nonprofit national forum, provides a community for attorneys general and their staff to collaboratively address issues important to their work, as well as training and resources.
