More commercial space coming to downtown Bondurant
Ground could be broken on a new 20,000-square-foot building in downtown Bondurant.
An estimated $1.5 million will be spent on the building, which will house 13 retail bays. The building will be on the corner of Main Street and Second Street Northeast could break ground by next fall.
“It’s been a goal in our community to re-energize our central district,” said Mike Adams, president of Adams Property Inc. and manager of the project. “There is no available commercial space downtown,” he said.
Mark Arentsen, city administrator for Bondurant, agreed that space is limited downtown. “There is a lack of a number of things downtown,” he said. “We are constantly being contacted by people who need commercial space.”
Adams said he has been working with an assortment of retailers that are interested in placing a store in the new building. None of the details have been released.
The new building comes shortly after the announcement of two construction bids for a public safety building and a public library, both of which are to be completed next year.
“If you come to downtown Bondurant 12 months from now, it’s going to look totally different than it does today,” Arentsen said.
