Musco Lighting buys Insane Impact of Des Moines
Oskaloosa-based Musco Lighting has purchased Insane Impact of Des Moines. Musco Lighting is one of Iowa’s keystone manufacturers, founded in 1976 by Joe Crookham and Myron Gordin, who modernized outdoor lighting for landmarks and sports facilities across the country, from the Statue of Liberty to the Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium. Insane Impact was founded in 2015 by Tod Puetz and is a national supplier of audio-visual equipment, and rents and sells mobile LED screen trailers. Construction on the Insane Impact’s $3 million headquarters at 7901 SW 22nd St. in Des Moines was completed earlier this year. Kyle Ortmann, president of Insane Impact, confirmed the purchase and that the company’s 90 employees will retain their jobs. “Like our employees, I’m excited for the opportunity this acquisition brings for our team, our customers, and our organization,” Ortmann stated in an email.
