An assisted living center on the city’s southeast side could add 50 units for seniors.

The developer of the proposed 40,000-square-foot building plans to break ground on the building this summer.

Dave McGinnis, project manager for the new Prairie Hills Assisted Living Center at 2680 Payton Ave., said this is the company’s fifth location in the state. Two years ago, the company had eyed a spot on Southeast 14th Street but had disagreements with an adjacent landowner over development issues.

McGinnis said the bids for the project will go out next week and grading could begin soon.
