After competing against each other in long-distance running in college, Dr. Shannon White and Dr. Ryan Kramer have joined the same team and started Chiropractic in Motion.

“I have known since high school that this is what I wanted to do,” White said. “I was constantly having issues with my knees, legs and hips. I spent hours at the chiropractors and knew it was what I wanted to do when I saw how many people it helped.”

The two athletically inclined friends have turned their sports-induced aches and pains into a focus for their professional activities. Prior to opening their new practice, White and Kramer worked for established offices where they learned what they wanted and did not want in their own.

“Out of school, we both joined as associates; we learned how to care for patients and take care of business before we opened our own practice,” Kramer said.

Options, from services offered to the age group cared for, are strengths for the Chiropractic in Motion office. Patients can also choose between male and female chiropractors. Services included are family medicine, wellness, sports and working injuries and personal injury cases. White and Kramer have seen patients ranging from newborns to the elderly.

“The oldest person that I have worked on was 103,” Kramer said.

With the variety of patients comes a variety of needs, and therefore more than the typical adjustments are available at the office.

Chiropractic in Motion offers physiotherapy (in-cluding electric muscle stimulation), rehabilitative exercises (stretching and strengthening using balls, tubing and therapy bands), manipulative adjustments (the hands-on portion of chiropractic medicine) and Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique (an instrument used to give consistent low-force, high-speed chiropractic adjustments that are made “without the cracking and popping.”)

White and Kramer chose their West Des Moines location for the growth opportunity and proximity to family.

“The area is growing immensely,” Kramer said. “It is looking to annex in the next couple of years. There is so much potential, and it is not too far from our families.”
