New YMCA passes planning and zoning in Waukee
The Planning and Zoning Commission in Waukee approved a final plat and site plan for the proposed two-story, 73,812-square-foot YMCA. The site plan shows 310 parking spaces and could accommodate a sports field.
The Y will sit on 8.65 acres of land owned by the Broderick family. On March 24, the City Council held its first public hearing and passed the first reading of a rezoning request to change the land from agriculture to commercial.
The new Y carries an estimated price tag of $13 million. The YMCA hopes to break ground in the spring.
