Nominations open for 2026 Robert D. Ray Iowa SHARES Humanitarian Award

The World Food Prize Foundation announced nominations are now open for the Robert D. Ray Iowa SHARES Humanitarian Award, which honors Iowans demonstrating exceptional leadership and humanitarian service in confronting hunger locally and globally. Established in 2013, the award recognizes individuals whose work uplifts communities, reflecting the legacy of Gov. Robert D. Ray’s humanitarian efforts. Past honorees include Ann McGlynn (2025), Jim Blessman (2024), R.W. and Mary Nelson (2019), the Rev. Russ Melby (2015), Merry Fredrick (2014) and Lucille Morgan Wilson (2013), all recognized for significant anti-hunger initiatives in Iowa and beyond. The winner will receive the award at the Iowa Hunger Summit on July 22. Nominations are open through April 15.
