We hosted our annual Forty Under 40 pre-event photo shoot recently, and took the opportunity to do some live, red carpet-style interviews with each of the honorees. I hosted and had a ton of fun getting to know the Forties and their passions a bit better. Topics ranged from efforts to build a new midsized indoor-outdoor event venue (Jennifer Carruthers at 50:00) to the challenges minorities face in Des Moines (Joshua Barr at 13:45), the rise of robo advising (Mari Bunney at 56:40), and of course serious topics such as “Star Wars,” Greek food, relay marathons, WineFest and a system for counting stairs. I also asked each of the Forties to share what they thought Des Moines leaders should focus on to continue positioning the region for the future.
