The webinar, scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m., is designed to help companies understand the proposed vaccine rules and what their responsibilities are as employers. According to a news release, speakers will include Mary Funk, shareholder at Nyemaster Goode P.C., who specializes in labor and employment law for management, and Glenn Spencer, senior vice president of the Employment Policy Division with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The US Department of Labor recently issued more details about vaccine requirements for companies with more than 100 employees. The Biden Administration is requiring businesses with 100 employees or more to ensure their staff is fully vaccinated by Jan. 4. Employees who are not vaccinated must submit a negative COVID-19 test weekly. The new rules are on pause after a federal appeals court halted the requirements in a ruling that says petitions filed by states seeking to stop the rules from going into effect, “give cause to believe there are grave statutory and constitutional issues with the mandate,” according to a CNBC report. Despite the court’s order, the Biden Administration is telling businesses to move ahead with the vaccine mandate. At least 26 states, including Iowa, have challenged the vaccine and testing requirements in five different U.S. appeals courts since last week.
