Permits issued for 27 new projects in Des Moines area

Building permits were issued in July and August for 27 new projects in the Greater Des Moines area, including a mixed-use project west of Drake University, a Business Record review shows.

The value of the new projects was estimated at over $58.3 million, the review of building permits shows. The review was of 13 area communities and Polk County. 

In addition, permits were issued for 49 tenant improvement or remodel projects and building additions, the review shows. The value of the projects was estimated at over $89.8 million.

In August, a permit was issued for the construction of Uptown Commons, a mixed-use two-story building at 4109 University Ave. in Des Moines. The project includes commercial bays and nine residential units.

Also in August, a permit was issued for the construction of a three-story addition to a building at 3451 Easton Boulevard. in Des Moines. The property is owned by Community & Family Resources, a comprehensive substance use treatment provider. The one-story building on the property is being remodeled. The addition will include residential facilities for men, women and adolescents; a detoxification center; fitness center; and dining facilities.
