Polk County Health Department hosting public forum on local cancer data

137 wordsAll Latest News, Health and WellnessThe Polk County Health Department and Harkin Institute for Public Policy and Citizen Engagement are partnering with the Iowa Cancer Registry to host Cancer in Polk County, a public data presentation and community conversation on Jan. 20. The event is part of the statewide Cancer in Iowa: 99 Counties Project, led by the Iowa Cancer Registry, which aims to provide comprehensive, county-level cancer data across Iowa. Presenters from the University of Iowa College of Public Health will share recent Polk County cancer statistics followed by a panel discussion featuring public health and policy leaders such as Juliann Van Liew, Mary Charlton, Whitney Zahnd, Adam Shriver, Dr. Richard Deming and the Rev. Vivian Bryson. The event will be from 5-7 p.m. at Drake University’s Sheslow Auditorium or online. Admission is free, with advance registration required at canceriowa.news/polk.
