The Iowa Pork Producers Association has donated $25,000 to Iowa’s food banks to help store and transport pork products from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The frozen and canned pork has been donated to food banks during the trade war. Typically, the federal government pays for storage and distribution of projects, but did not for these special donations. “The purpose of a food purchase program is to help create demand for our commodities,” said IPPA President Gregg Hora of Fort Dodge. “We know this puts a strain on warehousing and distribution costs for food banks across Iowa. That’s why the Iowa Pork Producers Association is stepping in to provide $25,000 to help the food banks defray those costs.”
