Proteus Inc. CEO Daniel Zinnel has announced he will step down from his role this summer to pursue another opportunity. Zinnel has worked for the organization for a total of 14 years and served as CEO for the last seven. Proteus Chief Financial Officer Carla Beste will serve as interim CEO while the nonprofit’s board of directors conducts a national search for its next leader. Board President Kristin Hoffman said Zinnel’s tenure has included expanding programming, strengthening the organization’s budget, and leading successful fundraising efforts. “It has been my honor to serve some of the most hardworking and resilient people I have ever known. … I am grateful to the entire team for their trust and support, and I am confident the organization will continue to thrive in the years ahead,” Zinnel said in a prepared statement. Founded in 1979, Proteus provides farmworkers and their families with job training, education assistance, emergency assistance and affordable health care in Iowa, Nebraska and Indiana.
