Psychiatric hospital fails to win permission
A Memphis company’s attempt to win state permission to build a 72-bed psychiatric hospital in Bettendorf failed to get the votes it needed at a hearing Wednesday, as members of Iowa’s State Health Facilities Council deadlocked 2-2 on the request, the Quad-City Times reported. Strategic Behavioral Health LLC was seeking permission to build the $14 million hospital at Tanglefoot Lane and Golden Valley Drive. But it has met with vigorous opposition from the area’s two largest hospitals, UnityPoint Trinity and Genesis Health System.
