Randy Pierce named Altoona city administrator
Randy Pierce, the city of Altoona’s longtime finance officer, has been named the eastern Polk County community’s city administrator. Pierce replaces John Harrenstein, who resigned during the summer after just five months in the position. Pierce has been Altoona’s finance officer for over 20 years. He will have the dual role of city administrator and finance officer until a new finance officer and city clerk are hired, according to a news release. Pierce was an accountant in Ottumwa for 10 years before joining Altoona’s staff. He graduated from William Penn University with a degree in accounting. Pierce will be paid $206,795 annually.
