RE/MAX Real Estate Group will give a shot at the commercial real estate market in Des Moines. This will be a new venture for the residential home sales company with offices located in Windsor Heights and Pleasant Hill.

Don Godwin, owner and head broker of RE/MAX Real Estate Group, said the new division may bring as many as 25 new agents to the company. RE/MAX has already started listings and is in the process of recruiting agents. In September, Kent York left CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. to head the new commercial division for RE/MAX.

“I had tremendous success at Hubbell and when the opportunity came along with RE/MAX, I was ready to try something new,” York said. “My vision is to grow the commercial division and help other experienced agents.”

Godwin says he knew he had the right person when York decided to relocate from Hubbell to RE/MAX. “I thought about a lot of different brokers and I’m excited that Kent is heading this,” Godwin said. “I’ve thought about doing this for a long time and he’s the ideal person.”

York, who has more than 15 years of experience in the commercial real estate market, saw the opportunity with RE/MAX as one with “unlimited potential. I’m excited about the new position,” he said, “and very confident I’ve made the right decision.”
