Iowa State University Extension and Outreach entomologists have confirmed soybean gall midge infestations in 12 Iowa counties, reports Successful Farming. Cultural practices or insecticidal seed treatment does not appear to effectively suppress the midges, entomologists said. So far, the midge has been confirmed in northeastern Nebraska, southeastern South Dakota, and Iowa counties Lyon, O’Brien, Clay, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Woodbury, Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Cass and Page.
