Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Departments of Education and Health and Human Services announced the launch of the Health Care Professional Incentive Program, a new state initiative aimed at recruiting and retaining medical professionals in high-need counties across Iowa. Backed by an $8 million state investment, the program offers income bonuses or federal student loan repayment for eligible health care providers who commit to practicing in underserved areas for up to five years full time or seven years part time. The program consolidates five previous state incentive programs and targets 36 designated counties, covering professions such as physicians, nurses, social workers and therapists. Applications are open through March 31 via the Iowa Department of Education’s website.
