Stock comparison of publicly traded ethanol companies with plants in Iowa
President George Bush signed the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 into law on Dec. 18, 2007, requiring fuel producers to use at least 36 billion gallons of biofuel in 2022, a nearly fivefold increase over current levels. Several experts predicted that this law would be key to boosting ethanol stocks. So far, the results are mixed, and most of those companies’ stocks are still far from reaching all-time highs.
