Des Moines and Cedar Rapids were ranked among the 10 best cities in the United States for tech workers by SmartAsset. Des Moines was ranked No. 8 in the third annual survey, behind Cedar Rapids, which was ranked sixth. SmartAsset cited Microsoft’s newest 570,000-square-foot data center under construction as well as the tech sector’s above-average earnings and Greater Des Moines’ low cost of living. Iowa shared the distinction of having two cities in the top 10 with North Carolina.
