In a survey of eight European Union countries, people are almost universally dissatisfied with the state of their nations, according to a Pew Research Center study. Germans are the only group satisfied with their country and national economy.

Greeks are the least happy among the populations surveyed, with just 2 percent satisfied with the direction of their country and 98 percent dissatisfied.

The Greeks are the least optimistic about the economy and the most pessimistic about economic mobility. Just 9 percent say they expect the economy to improve over the next year, while 73 percent say it is very difficult for a young person to find a better job or become wealthier than his or her parents were.
