The Microtel Inn & Suites in Urbandale has been sold. Larkin Hospitality Inc. sold the 76-room, 72,745-square-foot hotel to Nebraska-based Lotus Motel Inc

The Polk County assessor lists the sale price at $2.3 million. The property is located at 8711 Plum Drive. Janette Larkin, president of Larkin Hospitality and publisher at Business Publications Corp., said the decision to sell was both professional and personal. “It was an organizational and investment decision,” she said. “It took more time than once thought and needed someone with more hospitality experience to make it a good investment.”

Larkin also pointed to her new position as publisher at Business Publications Corp. as a reason for the sale. “With my additional responsibilities, it became very hectic,” she said.

Larkin said her decision to sell the hotel was not related to the new Hampton Inn & Suites that is being built directly across from the Microtel Inn.
