John Jackovin thinks there is an easier way to register a recently purchased product, store warranty information and house an instruction manual. And when you discover that, you should be able to share your purchasing decision with the world, if you so choose.

That’s the idea behind Bawte Inc., which provides a mobile phone application that allows users to scan a product code that automatically uploads information needed to register the product. Users can also keep track of products they’ve scanned on their Facebook page in order to easily find warranty information and an online instruction manual for the product.

Jackovin said he’s heard interest from brand name companies to use Bawte to reach out to consumers. Rarely does a compnay know exactly who an end user is after its product is sold by the retailer. With Bawte, if a customer shares on Facebook or other social media website that he or she bought a product, the maker of the product can see who the user is and personally reach out to say “thank you” or offer discounts.

It can work with a high-impact, high-priced item such as a television. Jackovin also foresees users sharing everyday purchases with friends that require a higher-than-average level of research, such as a tasty glutten-free pizza crust.

Jackovin has done a soft launch of the product, available on Android phones. An iPhone version is awaiting review.

Question for the founder: Why do you think Bawte will be successful?

“Every stakeholder involved benefits. It’s not like this is at the expense of anybody involved. Everybody kind of gets what they want. Consumers have a way to track purchases, register products, have easier access to information. So it benefits the consumer, number one, but it also benefits the brands. Brands have a way of actually interacting with customers, aside from saying ‘I have all these people who like me on Facebook.’”
