Three new buildings totaling 100,000 square feet will be added to the Guthrie Avenue Business Park on Des Moines’ East Side by this summer.

Owner Jack Houghton of Des Moines is planning to build two 40,000-square-foot and one 25,000-square-foot flex warehouses. “Everything is pretty much leased up on the East Side,” he said. “The marketing has changed. Today people don’t want to wait get a warehouse built; they want it now.”

Houghton estimates the cost of the project to be excess of $1 million.
