The Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI) today announced its 2009 legislative agenda, which is centered on economic growth, job creation and stability. The association is cautiously warning legislators of the potential damage to the jobs climate if Iowa’s right-to-work and public employment laws deteriorate. ABI President Mike Ralston also warned that radical changes to the state’s benefit-rich workers’ compensation system could also hurt potential job growth. Citigroup Inc. reversed its fourth-quarter profit view on Bank of America Corp. to a loss and said the company may slash its quarterly dividend by nearly 84 percent, Reuters reported. Analyst Keith Horowitz expects BofA to post a fourth-quarter loss of 75 cents per share; his prior estimate showed a profit of 2 cents per share. Horowitz expects BofA to cut its quarterly dividend to 5 cents a share from 32 cents.
Trinity Home Care of Fort Dodge has joined Iowa Health Home Care of Urbandale but will continue to operate under its current name. The facility, which was formerly a department of Trinity Regional Medical Center, doesn’t expect any changes for customers or referral sources, and it is the second Iowa Health System affiliate home-care department to join Iowa Health Home Care.
Lt. Gov. Patty Judge kicked off the Live Healthy Iowa 100-day challenge this morning at 9 a.m. with a special ceremony on the first-floor rotunda of the state Capitol. Live Healthy Iowa, formerly known as Lighten Up Iowa, encourages people to work in teams to achieve optimal physical activity, healthful eating and weight loss.
