The University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business has renamed two of its academic departments to better reflect a curriculum increasingly focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and data analysis. The Department of Management and Organizations is now known as the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship, and the Department of Management Sciences is now called the Department of Business Analytics. The name changes were approved by the Iowa Board of Regents at its meeting last week. “The new names serve to increase the visibility of entrepreneurship programs to students and reflects the growing presence of entrepreneurship as a scholarly discipline within the field of management,” the college’s dean, Sarah Gardial, said in a release. “They also reflect an increased emphasis on teaching and studying the use of analytics to solve business problems.”
