Unemployment, work comp benefits go up July 1
Maximum weekly benefits paid to jobless Iowans and to workers injured on the job will increase July 1 for people who file unemployment insurance claims or who are injured after that date, Iowa Workforce Development said today. About half of those eligible for unemployment insurance benefits have enough earnings to qualify for the maximum benefit, which increases to $486 per week from $473 for a worker with four dependents, according to a news release. For injured workers, the maximum weekly benefit for temporary total disability, healing period, permanent total disability and death will rise to $1,498. For permanent partial disability, the weekly maximum will be $1,378.
