United Way hires Stone as advocacy director
United Way of Central Iowa announced it has hired Dave Stone, former associate director of Bravo Greater Des Moines, as its advocacy officer. Stone will work to advance the collective legislative goals of the organization and its coalition partners in the areas of education, income and health. United Way today released its 2017 legislative priorities, which can be found here. Prior to Bravo Greater Des Moines, Stone was communications manager for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland in Des Moines. “Dave’s wealth of experience in building relationships and communicating the impact of mission-driven policies will be instrumental in achieving our advocacy goals,” said Mary Sellers, president of United Way of Central Iowa. Stone has a Master of Public Administration degree from Drake University and a Bachelor of Political Science from Iowa State University. He succeeds Sarah Ramsey, who had been advocacy officer for 11 years before leaving United Way earlier this year to lead Drake University’s Executive Education Center.
