During a meeting with the Board of Regents on Wednesday, University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld said that postponing performance-based pay raises until Jan. 1 is “logical budgeting” as the university waits for information on census and tuition revenue figures, reports the Cedar Rapids Gazette. In addition to a pay freeze, the University of Iowa has implemented a campuswide moratorium on new construction, eliminated some non-need-based scholarship programs, and announced closure of some centers through furloughs.
