One year after opening its new facility, the Urbandale Food Pantry has reported serving 17,215 unique individuals and 7,418 unique families between April 2025 and March 2026, underscoring increased demand for food assistance across Iowa. The pantry distributed nearly 1.94 million pounds of food and rescued over 750,000 pounds from partner organizations, with visitors coming from 67 counties statewide. To mark the one year milestone, the pantry is also releasing a short documentary covering the stories behind the work and the journey to build the new facility. “This isn’t just about a building,” Patty Sneddon-Kisting, CEO of the Urbandale Food Pantry, said in a statement. “It’s about making sure people have a place to go when they need support, and that we can continue to show up with food, dignity and compassion.”
