Variety — the Children’s Charity of Iowa announced it has committed $800,000 in support of the expansion and renovation of the Pediatric Emergency Department at Blank Children’s Hospital. With the support from Variety over the past three years, the fundraising campaign has surpassed $14 million toward its goal of $14.3 million to completely transform the adult and pediatric emergency, trauma and critical care in Central Iowa at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Blank Children’s Hospital. The Variety Pediatric Emergency Department at Blank Children’s Hospital will feature 10 Express Care areas for pediatric patients as well as 12 large, private rooms complete with state-of-the-art technology and equipment specially designed for children. The new Pediatric Emergency Department, which is adjacent to the adult Emergency Department on the Iowa Methodist Medical Center campus, will open Dec. 13.
