The Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Vision Iowa board voted today to approve $280,387 for the $1.7 million Ankeny Market Pavilion project, providing supporters complete a fundraising effort in the next 30 days. The project includes the construction of two open-air pavilions, a paved plaza, a restroom facility and a trail hub. Additional features include signage and a natural play space, according to a release. Meanwhile, the board received additional information from the YMCA of Greater Des Moines regarding its request for $1 million to help finance a $10 million swimming pool at the Wellmark YMCA in downtown Des Moines. The Ankeny and Wellmark YMCA applications fall under IEDA’s Community Attraction and Tourism grant program.
