VisionBank’s corporate headquarters will relocate to the Village of Ponderosa in West Des Moines, and serve as the sole financial institution for the area.

“Honestly, we are out of room,” said Thomas J. Hromatka, president and CEO of VisionBank. “We are just under a $100 million bank before our new headquarters is built. (The space) is needed and long overdue.”

VisionBanks’ 1601 West Lakes Parkway location in West Des Moines has served as a provisional headquarters until completion of the Ponderosa location. VisionBank, the fourth bank within Ogden BancShares Inc., a central Iowa multi-bank holding company, opened in October 2006.

“(West Lakes) is a temporary location, a charter facility that we will be vacating after the move,” Hromatka said.

VisionBank will occupy Ladco Development Inc. and Ball Construction LLC’s Building J at Ponderosa, at 620 S. 60th St.

When completed, the building will total 18,100 square feet of retail and Class A office space.

The structure is approximately 70 percent complete. Hromatka said construction is in the later stages, including working on the interior drywall, painting, wallpaper and final carpentry. The masonry and sidewalks are in progress. Landscape and sod are expected to be laid in the next couple of weeks.

VisionBank pushed back its mid-December completion date, and Hromatka said the bank and headquarters will officially open on Jan. 22, 2008.

The strong base of customers, the bank’s long-term relationships with companies in the developing area and the opportunity to be the only financial provider in Ponderosa helped determine the location for Vision-Bank’s office and headquarters, Hromatka said.

“It has been two years in making… It matches our business plan and fits perfectly,” Hromatka said.

BSB Design headquarters



Ladco and Ball began on-site grading and utilities work on Oct. 30 for BSB Design’s headquarters, which will also be located in the Village of Ponderosa.

BSB’s Ponderosa location will help strengthen its relationship with Ladco and serve as a showcase for its commercial and residential design, said Steve Moore, CEO of BSB Design.

“We can show new and established clients, new and old employees what we are capable of, and there is our work right out the window,” added Dina Landphair, a BSB project architect, who worked with colleague Mike Crocker to design the BSB headquarters building.

Expected to be completed in September 2008, the building will include 17,109 square feet of Class A office space.
